Papers 1959-2011 1966-1991

The collection consists of six series: Clippings, Correspondence, Events, Miscellaneous, Scrapbook, and Writings. The Clippings series (circa 1966-1990) contains newspaper articles concerning Prof. Jones academic achievements. Correspondence (1961-2011) documents Jones' accomplishments during his tenure at Kennesaw State University, as well as the end of his time at the Lovett School. The bulk of the correspondence dates from 1966 to 1991, with one email from 2011. Because Jones was a charter faculty member of the school, his correspondence contains insights into the beginning of Kennesaw Junior College. The Events series (1969-1989) includes programs, clippings, and fliers that illustrate Jones' professional activities. The Miscellaneous series consists of a few unrelated items, including a composition by an unknown author, a list of charter faculty and staff at Kennesaw Junior College, and student evaluation scores for Jones from 1976 to 1981. In addition, the series has a greeting card celebrating Prof. jones' promotion to Acting Assistant Dean in 1973. The card was created by the Humanities Division and illustrates Jones' assertion that his new title indicated that he was a mouse in training to be a rat. The Scrapbook (1973-1974) is entitled, "The Kennesaw Collage." It is 74 pages in length and consists of faculty headshot photographs glued onto student bodies with humorous captions. The Writings series (1959-1996) contains prose as well as poetry composed by Prof. Jones. The poems frequently document people or events at Kennesaw State University, including original poems for President Siegel's Holiday greeting cards.
